NEW: AEG SHINGLE MODULE AS-M3057-S(G12)

Consistently with the AEG hallmark of outstanding product looks and engineering reliability, the AEG shingle modules AS-M3057-S(G12) stand out for their excellent aesthetics, great mechanical resistance, and enhanced outputs, thanks to the combined use of shingling technology based on G12-wafer size. They represent a premium product for residential installations, which well fits the offer “360° energy solutions for the home”: AEG solar modules, AEG solar inverters, especially tailored around the home.

WHAT IS THE SHINGLING TECHNOLOGY?

Shingle solar modules are manufactured with shingling technology. Simply put, pre-cut crystalline silicon solar cells (shingles) are assembled into the solar modules on top of each other like tiles on a rooftop. Differently than standard solar modules, where solar cells are ribbon-attached and are interconnected to the ribbons via soldering, shingles are instead connected into strings with electrically conductive adhesives (ECAs).

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF SHINGLE TECHNOLOGY?

MORE OUTPUT, ENHANCED AESTHETICS

The shingled cell layup generates more energy output (with an output increase of possibly up to 15% over standard modules), as there is no inactive space between cells and energy converting active area of the module is maximized. The high module efficiency (up to 21.4% for 425 Wp for “standard” modules and up to 21.1% for 420 Wp Ultra Black, current power classes) allowed by the use of G12-wafer-based shingles allows for an optimal balance of system.

GREATER MECHANICAL RESISTANCE

Adhesives (including conductive tape/film) have found wide deployment in the electronics industry since 2001 and can be advantageously applied to solar module design. The low-temperature adhesive application, replacing high-temperature busbar soldering, minimizes the thermal stress that can cause cells to bend and to generate micro-cracks. The use of ECA further minimizes the resistive losses that are usually generated by the thermal expansion of soldered busbars.

Circuit design also contributes to enhancing outputs and improving resistance. Combining series and parallel connection, it allows for a better shading performance. Especially the parallel circuit design reduces shading losses and minimizes hot spot risks.

ENHANCED AESTHETICS

The use of ECAs instead of connecting ribbons makes the module surface look extremely smooth and aesthetically pleasant. This feature is especially outstanding in the Ultra Black variant of the AEG solar modules, as seamless aesthetics is a desired feature for residential installations (the target for the Ultra Black variant).

The new AEG shingled modules AS-M3057-S(G12) will be available in three variants:
with silver frame and white backsheet , with black frame and white backsheet, and with black frame, black backsheet and black wiring (Ultra black).
